I've never actually encountered this specific situation with an NBA client before. But, my thinking would be that you have a MASSIVE opportunity to start with a blank slate and an open mind.
The player will be rebuilding themselves from the ground up, and you have the opportunity to get down to the studs to perform very detailed work.
If the player is NOT changing their shot after a serious injury, then it will be just like riding a bike. NBA players who can shoot it well do not forget how to shoot.
I'm really curious if there's folks who teach this kinetic linking or other resources for a 14 year old kid learning. I experienced something similar with baseball, where no matter how many reps you do if you don't have the correct flexibility and rotational power trained then it's hard to be successful. So I'm a believer, just looking for a way to do it. (There's plenty of folks giving bad or incomplete advice :)
Thanks for the conversation, Marc! People are loving your insights at DNHQ. I have to get you on again, but with a telestrator on film clips

It was a blast, and I owed the return favor!
I'll pop in there and respond — Anything for Eric and the DNHQ people!
After a serious injury, how do you retrain players to shoot? Is that a chance to work on a shooter's flaws?
